BACKGROUND

When I got married, I wanted to do the flowers myself (with maybe just a little help from Mum!) but found I still could only buy the flowers at retail prices as so many wholesalers will only supply retail businesses. As the whole idea was to try and save a little money (from the spiralling wedding costs!) this was very frustrating.

I was lucky and a had a friend in the trade, who was able to introduce me to a local wholesaler. Their helpful advice meant, not only did I source all the fresh flowers I required, but also all the other bits needed for my wedding – vases for the table decorations, pedestal stands and foam products for the arrangements, ribbons to decorate, right down to the final touches – tealights and wedding favours!

I thought it would be a daunting prospect, not only deciding what flowers to have and how to actually arrange them, but also dealing with a wholesaler when my flower knowledge was so limited! However they were so helpful and I had plenty of time just to browse around their warehouse, and even though they couldn't tell me what or how many stems I should buy, they gave me lots of advice so I felt confident in planning what I needed.

Overall the experience of arranging and doing all the wedding flowers myself was positive and I gained a lot of personal satisfaction at what I achieved as well as making a huge financial saving.

Having met others who'd been in a similar situation, I felt there was a niche in the market for ordinary people to be able to buy to access this service and to be able to buy top quality flowers and sundries for their event at reasonable prices. I contacted a number of wholesalers to discuss this idea with them and so after many hours and conversations …. Floral Aspirations was born!
